hubers 2010

I did not actually think that "Hubers 2010" was going to happen this year. Keith has either been working on days we could go, it has been too HOT that I did not even think of attempting it, or I thought I would drop a baby if I went! Ha! But...we got some great weather and hearing about so many people going, got me anxious. My sis in law, Courtney, went last weekend with her sisters, and after talking to her I decided we were just going to do it. I was definitley waddling around the grounds, but it was good to get the kids out and have some family time...with Chels of course! :) She kept calling Keith and I 'mom' and 'dad' all day...quite funny. I went a little camera crazy while we were there...the poor kids got tired of me I think.

Daddy being silly with the snake gourd.
He was not too happy about this one!

Off to the orchard on the wagon.
She LOVED picking the apples off the tree. We had to stop her so that we didn't have to pay for the entire orchard! :)
 Mother and daughter.
Kaden ready to launch an apple he picked up off the ground.

 Another family pic

It took Addison a bit to allow an animal to eat out of her hand...Daddy had to help her. Kaden wanted nothing to do with them! He stood far back chowing down on a cookie we had just bought for him in the gift shop...he was not sharing that precious treat!

I did not do any sliding...Chels took one for the team and went down with our little man! I probably would have gotten stuck in the middle. :)
Fun filled day and GREAT weather.

surprise shower

Our church always does a baby shower/celebration for EVERY baby that is born in our church. It is pretty special I think. It doesn't matter if it is your first or your fifth, they want to celebrate that little life...and there are always things that you need no matter how many you have. :) They normally do that after the baby is born so I know that is still coming. But I was surprised to come home one night last week to find a huge group of people standing on my front porch and sidewalk yelling SURPRISE!

Leave it up to my mom to make a person feel special. She got the thought and ran with it...inviting people at the last minute to come. It was very sweet to be surrounded by some of my dear friends and family!

My brother, Derek, spent some time entertaining Kaden outside! Derek is actually going to be a daddy in about 5 months and he and his wife are so ready. I know he has been looking forward to that season of his life for a while now. Can't wait to find out what they are having!

thoughts

Still...pregnant. Our little girl does not seem to be as anxious to meet us as we are to meet her. We are beginning to wonder if we will be celebrating Thanksgiving as well as her birth at the same time! It is just hard to know that it has to be close, but not have any idea of when that moment can or will take place. More than just wanting not to be pregnant anymore...I just want to hold her. With each of my babies, I can still remember that moment that I first held them in my arms...precious. I can't wait for that...a true miracle.

Although she is now officially past due, there are still things I am working on to prepare for her arrival...even her room. :) Better late than never. We have officially moved Kaden into Addison's room now so that the baby actually has a room. (Got a new crib for him because we now need two...since they are only going to be 16 mos. apart!) That arrangement has worked out better than I anticipated...Praise God! They actually seem to enjoy sharing a room...even if it's only been a week. Addison sings him to sleep at night...so adorable. The second night they were both in the same room, Kaden was not very happy...basically yelling at the top of his lungs. :( Keith and I had gone upstairs to our room and heard them on the monitor. Addison was saying, "It's okay, little buddy. You don't have to cry......" So  sweet...we were cracking up! She then proceeded to sing some sort of a lullaby to him. I have to write out the words because they were so well thought out.

Go to sleep, go to sleep.
Go to sleep little Kaden.
Close your eyes and go to sleep.
And I'll see you in the morning.

Where she comes up with this stuff...I have no idea! But...a few seconds later and both of them were OUT! I love them to pieces.

Back to the nursery...got the room repainted (thanks to my amazing Mom), bedding all situated, valance hung, etc. And...then it all began. I decided to paint a mural on the wall...yes I did. Call me crazy...being past due climbing around on a ladder painting a huge tree on the wall. I think I about caused Keith to have a heart attack. He checked on me about every 5 min. :) What a good man! But I am pretty happy with the result. Who would have thought that "anti-crafty Kristen" would even attempt that one. :) I am still working on painting some canvases to match the bedding and stuff...it is all pretty simple stuff...too much of that and I don't think I could do it.

So, we continue to wait and trust the Lord to bring our sweet girl in His perfect timing. I just want Him to know that we are sooooo ready. :)

daddy's little girl

To say that Addison loves her Daddy is nothing but an understatement. She TOTALLY loves her daddy...worships the ground he walks on basically. She is always asking where he is, what he is doing, when he will be home (if he is working), if she can call him, and it goes on and on. She constantly tells him that he is "the best daddy in the whole world." It really is precious. And...I know the feelings are completely the same on the other side. Keith adores her...and spoiles her like crazy! Don't get me wrong, he disciplines too, but she definitely has him wrapped around her little finger. Even as I am typing this, she is outside helping him "drive" the van into the garage...sitting on his lap. :) She doesn't let him get too far out of her sight. I love this. I have an incredible relationship with my own dad, and am so happy that Addison can have this too.

So, the other day Addison woke up talking about a party we were having for daddy. I told her that it wasn't his birthday, but that was not what she was referring to. It was simply a surprise party for him. She let me know that we needed to bake a cake, put up decorations, and make a card! Seriously...all her ideas! And...we had to do it before he got home from work. She got the construction paper and markers out and got to work on the cards. I talked her into making some rice krispie treats instead of a cake, and we put up a few modest decorations. :) Hilarious to me!! No real reason...just celebrating her dad. I called Keith and gave him the heads up on what was going on so he could react accordingly!! This is some documentation of her "baking."
Pouring in the marshmallows that we counted.
Stirring the marshmallows and butter until it was all melted.
Pouring in the rice krispies!!
Putting it in the pan.
She added some stars to the top...they were also candles that he could blow out.
And...don't think Kaden wasn't "assisting" us as well. He always makes his presence known. He also got to "sample" a little of the treats as we were making them. :)
Just a couple of the card creations Addison made. She is very proud of her circles!

So, after Keith got home, we presented him with his cards, Addison showed him his "treats," and we truly did sing "Happy Surprise Party to You." She was glowing and quite proud of herself.

bye, bye strawberry pie

When at the grocery the other day, I saw some strawberries that still looked suprisingly good. I have been a couple other times and did not buy any because they just looked like it was not their "season." :) Soooo, I bought some and decided to do our last strawberry pie of the summer. I'm okay with that though, because I am ready for fall...just as I was excited to see spring and summer a few months ago.
I have been trying to allow Addison to help me in the kitchen as much as I can recently...teaching her what different utensils are called, having her get me pots and pans, cut up different things, etc. We have had some "knife using lessons" as well. :) She is normally willing and does very well. I took some pictures of her assisting with the making of our last strawberry pie. She was so excited and kept asking, "What do I do next?"
Cutting off the tops of the strawberries...I did the slicing. She was very careful!
Waiting for the water and sugar to boil.
Pouring in the strawberries.
Stirring the strawberries.
Pouring the mixture into the crust.
Enjoying the "fruits" of her labor a couple hours later. :)
Love it....she did!
