Kaden turns 1!

I know that everyone always says this...but, has it really already been a year?!?! My sweet boy is growing up! I guess that is good though, with a little sister on the way.;) Keith and I keep saying that he has to grow up fast to make room for more! So...as you will see by the pics...major duck theme going on. I had a hard time deciding on what to do for Kaden. He is not in to any TV shows, characters, or much of anything yet. BUT...when it came to his toy rubber duckies, he loved them. He would scream if Addison even tried to take one away from him. :) So funny. We had a few of them that he played with in the bathtub and really just any time. I honestly think his first liking to them was when he was doing some of his teething. He could chew on them and it felt good to him. Whatever works!

We were blessed with a good day for his party...a few sprinkles, but lots of friends and family to celebrate with us. I love parties! And Addison definitely takes after her mama. She has been asking for weeks, "Is today the day of Kaden's party?" as she has seen me little by little get things together. One day she even asked if it was time for the "customers" to come! So cute!

Got that idea one night just laying in bed...ya know how they have the duck crossing signs???? The feet led up to the door. :)

The little marshmallows in the containers you see are "bubbles"!! Got that idea from a friend at school. I had planned on using blue M&M's for "water," but this was a little cheaper.

jeep time

After the not-so-successful skating experience, I brought the kids back home and let them play outside. This was much more enjoyable for them. We bought Addison a jeep for her birthday this year. I couldn't wait to get it for her because I knew how much I loved these cars as a kid. Keith and I were going to get it for her for Christmas, but decided against it because she wouldn't be able to use it much with the cold weather. Sooo, we waited until March and gave it to her on her birthday. At first we wondered if we made a big mistake. Bless her heart...she was the worst driver ever! She ran into everything and had a really hard time figuring out how to switch between going forwards and reversing. With careful coaching from Daddy...over and over and over...she eventually got the hang of it and is quite the little driver now! And...the best part is, Kaden loves it too! We strap him in next to her and away they go! He just sits there and absolutely loves it. They are so cute. Keith and I just laugh at the sight of them driving around the yard.

skating...or whatever!

There was a fund raiser for upcoming Camp Legacy at a local skating rink on Saturday. I wasn't sure if I should even attempt to go, but I knew there would be a lot of my good peeps there and thought it might be fun...oh, how wrong I was! Taking a three year old who has never skated before, a one year old that is a very curious little boy, and being pregnant on top of it all...use your imagination! :) Luckily my family was there to help, but the trip was very short lived! Keith was working with some guys building a loft in our garage that day, so he didn't go with us...it may have gone better with him there...I don't know though! Here are a couple pictures I got. This is all Addison could do...poor thing. There will be other times. :)
Kaden 'thought' he could skate! He kept running out trying to chase all his aunts and uncles.

backyard fun

It's always so fun to get the summer things out of the garage and shed. I love welcoming spring and summer with the baby pool, water table, and the other million backyard bats, balls, frisbies, sand toys, etc. Here are the kiddos enjoying the outdoors. :)

nice weather

With the weather being nice and having suffered from cabin fever way too long, today was a day to get outside. We played with sidewalk chalk...as you can see. Addison got to ride on some of her many riding toys. Kaden enjoyed the view from the stroller...tried to eat the chalk...bad idea. :(
After riding on the toys and such...she decided it was time for dress up! We have a whole drawer in her dresser designated for dress up clothes. She loves it...and the shoes of course...check them out! :)

thunder fun

We spent the day on the river at Thunder Over Louisville...which ends up being 'Thunder Over Indiana" for us Hoosiers. But...the weather was actually great today. Then, when the sun went down it was freezing! The kids did exceptionally well for such a long day. Kudos to Kaden especially. This was a hard day for an almost 11 month old. :) Luckily, Keith is able to get us right on the second street bridge so it is then easy and quick to get out of there and get home right after the show. If it was not for that, I am not so sure I would have braved it today. Many other officer's families come and hang/camp out for the day. Mom, Dad and the whole gang came again this year...and Derek and Courtney and Chels and Eric. It is always a lot of fun just chillin and eating and walking around. I didn't actually take pics of the fireworks cause I had my hands quite full. However, my friend Tara was walking around and snapping some so I hope to post some soon. Right now the kids are in bed and I am off to the same place. Keith will be home soon. :) Bless his heart--he worked from 8:00am until midnight tonight. Then he has to be back at work at 7:00am tomorrow morning...long hours!

first post

So...the blogging begins! I swore I would never do this...until I realized how quickly my little munchkins are growing up and how much I know I don't want to forget. I get easily overwhelmed with the thought of scrap booking or writing down everything they say or do so I can lock it into my mind...so this is my alternative. I hope to write quick "snapshots" of our lives as a family so we can look back and see the goodness of the Lord in our lives and remember these precious memories that go by so quickly. Drumroll please! (I am going to go back and post date some posts from this year that I don't want to forget.)

florida - ocean pics

It seemed that almost every night before dinner, we all walked down to the ocean to take pictures. It's just so pretty. Here are a few we captured.
Sweet Danielle and her Daniel
My baby girl
Check out Adder's glasses! Her eyes are just like mine...very sensitive to the sun. She can hardly do without her sunglasses. We had forgotten hers in our room...these are mine. :)
Chelsey, Me, Kala, Danielle

florida - putt-putt

Can you really go on vaca and not play putt-putt?!?! We were hilarious because none of us were any good and we all cheated multiple times! Addison was quite dangerous with her golfclub as well...her first time golfing. She knew she had to use it to hit the ball, and did not care where she was swinging it!
Golfing together??!!
Dylan being ridiculous, yet hilarious!
Go Kala!
Daniel and Danielle

florida - the beach

Addison and I went to Florida over Spring Break this year. Daddy couldn't go because of some training and Kaden stayed with Mimi and Papaw for the week. We went with my sisters, Chelsey and Danielle, my brother Dylan, and friends, Daniel and Kala. (Danielle is actually dating Daniel!) I was the official chaperone for them this week!
It was a lot of fun. The weather could have been a tad bit warmer, but we took advantage of the beach anyway. We went to Ormond Beach...right down the road from Daytona. We went to Daytona one night to eat and we all quickly realized that the spring break life was not for us! That was the first and last night we ventured down there.
She totally loved the sand and making any and every sand castle she could.
She thought it was too cool to dig trenches in the sand and fill them with water. Aunt Rae-Rae made many trips to the water and back with her little niece.

exersaucer

Soooo, every now and then, Kaden will actually sit in his exersaucer and play, but recently He and his sister have found a new use for it.
I don't know what is so fascinating about crawling under it, but they both love it! Maybe it is their own little area...where only they can fit. It cracks me up!

random

When I organize my pictures on my computer, I always seem to have a folder I label "random" for every month. These were a few "random" shots of Kaden from this month and last month that were too cute. :)
Lovin' the hat
Enjoyin a bottle with Daddy
See the drool...he has to have a bib on at all times. Otherwise, I would have to change his shirt on an hourly basis! Bless his heart. :)
This is one of Addison, of course, after a bath. She loves this robe that daddy picked out for her for Christmas. She calls it her 'rope.' I have tried to pronounce the /b/ sound at the end for her, but it hasn't stuck yet. :)
